A strong connection to the local context is at the heart of every project we undertake. It gives each design its own identity, authenticity and sense of place.<\/p>\n
As part of our project in Locarno, which we are developing in collaboration with 3G Architetti, we organised an excursion to the Valle Maggia together with the client’s building committee. There, we visited Switzerland’s last active marble quarry, where Cristallina marble is extracted.<\/p>\n
Cristallina marble has been quarried at Peccia, at the foot of Punta della Rossa, since the quarry opened in 1946. Over the years, 14 different colour variations have been discovered there.<\/p>\n
We then visited the Scuola di Scultura, where we gained fascinating insights into the various techniques of stone craftsmanship.<\/p>\n
